The breakup of asteroid P/2013 R3

This video shows a number of NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope observations of asteroid P/2013 R3, as viewed over a time period of just over two months in 2013. The fragments are visible moving around, and new chunks of material appear as time passes.

The observations were taken using Hubble on 29 October 2013, 15 November 2013, 13 December 2013, and 14 January 2014.
