Original images provide a pleasant view but limited scientific data. The 'sharpened' image is processed with a high pass filter and blended with Hard Light to avoid the fringes that unsharp masking produces so readily. The two lower images work in the fourth dimension of the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram and provide spatial images of where the bluer and redder objects reside.

They have to be blurred because they work by difference on very dark images and the resultant levels are barely above pure black. This processing also brings out all the jpeg compression effects invisible in the original. I have colourised them as this makes them more pleasing to the eye.
