Pan across Centaurus A

Centaurus A, also known as NGC 5128, is well known for its dramatic dusty lanes of dark material.
This video pans across the dusty region of Centaurus A, which has been captured in unprecedented detail by Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3.
The video shows areas of current star formation. The red clouds highlighted in this video are clouds of ionised hydrogen gas in which new stars are forming. A special filter used in Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 allows astronomers to isolate the specific wavelength of light that is emitted by these regions.
