The Milky Way and Sagittarius Constellation

Rising into the night sky is the glittering plane of our galaxy. This picture shows the center of the Milky Way and on the left side Sagittarius (the Archer), one of the constellations of the zodiac.

As seen from the northern hemisphere, the constellation's brighter stars form an easily recognizable asterism known as 'the Teapot'. In this picture one of the two brightes stars of the Teapot is hidden behind the tres on the left.

The constellation as a whole has the appearance of a Centaur archer drawing its bow, with the fainter stars creating the outline of his horse like body.. The arrowhead is pointing at the reddish star Antares, which is located on the other side of the Milky Way plane.
